How the app handles your data

College Algebra Studio offers lessons, a short readiness check, and practice without requiring an account.

Learning progress and optional reporting

Your first-try results, readiness-check results, and class access status are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad. There is no cross-device progress sync. If you tap “Agree and share practice data,” the app also sends a random app-installation identifier, whether you entered a class access code, question and skill identifiers, which answer choice you selected, whether it was correct, the order of your attempts, and the seconds from showing each question to your answer. The developer uses these reports to understand which questions need improvement, first-try success, and return visits. The app does not ask for your name, email address, student number, or exam grades. A shared class code is not proof of enrollment; the random identifier represents one installation and may change after a reinstall.

Reports are stored in Google Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. The instructor dashboard requires the authorized Google account; the app can access only its own reports. Firebase project administrators can also manage the stored data. Practice reports are not sent to AdMob for ad targeting. Google processes the data to provide the Firebase service under its privacy terms. Reporting is optional and does not affect access to lessons or the ad-free class pass.

Ads and third-party data

If you choose free public access, or a redeemed class pass expires, the iOS app can request banner ads through Google AdMob. Google's Mobile Ads SDK may process information such as your IP address (which can indicate an approximate location), device identifiers, diagnostics and performance data, and information about ads and app interactions. Google may use this information for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and improvement of its services. The data used and ads shown depend on device settings, Google's systems, and any applicable privacy choices. For more detail, see Google's Privacy Policy.

If you redeem a valid Fall 2026 class code, the app does not start its ad SDK or request ads while your ad-free access remains active. That access expires after December 11, 2026.

Your choices

Practice reporting is off until you choose to join. In the Class access tab you can stop future reporting or delete your previously shared reports; local progress stays on your device. If deletion fails because you are offline, reconnect and try again, or contact us with the random app ID shown there. If you uninstall the app before deleting the reports, contact us at the address below to request deletion; reports cannot be linked back to you by name. We retain shared reports until deletion is requested or the data is no longer needed to evaluate the questions. Where an advertising privacy message is required, the app presents it before requesting ads and offers “Manage ad privacy choices” in the Class access tab.

Children and students

The app is intended for college algebra learners. Do not enter personal information or class records into a support message. An instructor should obtain any required institutional approval before asking students to share practice data.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy and App Store privacy details when data practices change. Questions or deletion requests can be sent to dilum0007@gmail.com.
